What is Independence from Hunger?
Independence from Hunger is an annual summer food and fund drive hosted by Grocery Outlet benefiting the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Throughout the month of July, shoppers can donate food or funds at participating Grocery Outlet locations to help support neighbors facing hunger in our community.
What is happening on Saturday, June 13?
On Saturday, June 13, the Santa Rosa Grocery Outlet will kick off the campaign by matching in-store donations up to $500. Redwood Empire Food Bank volunteers will be onsite helping promote the campaign, interact with shoppers, and encourage community support throughout July.
What will volunteers do during the shift?
Volunteers will:
Greet customers as they enter or exit the store
Share information about Independence from Hunger
Encourage shoppers to donate in-store
Talk about the needs of our local community
Thank shoppers for their support
This is a community engagement role focused on conversation, awareness, and encouragement.
What are the volunteer shift times?
Two volunteer shifts are available:
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Where is the volunteer shift located?
The volunteer shift will take place at Grocery Outlet - 1116 4th St., Santa Rosa.
