However, since our Distribution Center is an active workspace, please use discretion when bringing young children. Volunteers aged 14 and older may participate without a parent or guardian.

To be fully prepared, we require all volunteers to review our Volunteer Handbook, which covers key details on volunteering with groups/teams, policies, and FAQs.

We value respect, fairness, and kindness—negative remarks or harassment will not be tolerated.

As a Basket Sanitizing Volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Your efforts will help ensure that the baskets used for food distribution are sanitized and ready for use. 

Responsibilities:

Check-In: Upon arrival, please check-in for your shift at the Kiosk and at the Front Desk.

Set Up: Head to Volunteer Room 1 to set up tables for the Program Coordinators to place dirty baskets on.

Prepare Stations:

Wash Station: Fill with detergent.

Rinse Station: Fill with hot water.

Sanitize Station: Fill with sanitizer.

Test Sanitizer:

Use a test strip to check the sanitizer concentration. Dip the strip in the sanitizer for 5 seconds, wait one minute, and ensure the results are above 300. If they are below 300, please report this to a staff member.

Sanitize Baskets:

Scrub the baskets in the wash station.

Rinse them thoroughly.

Sanitize the baskets in the sanitize station.

Leave the clean baskets on the tables to air dry.
